I finally replaced my Rigblaster Pro with a Rigblaster Advantage.  Now, I can free up the PC sound card and get rid of many cables that were necessary before.  I've also made some software changes moving from Writelog and HRD to N1MM, Log4OM, and Fldigi.

January 14, 2019

Made 75 contacts for 3,000 points in the NAQP - CW contest this weekend.

January 7, 2019

Played a bit in the ARRL RTTY Roundup this weekend.  I didn't devote much time but ended up with 59 contacts in 32 states and 5 countries.

January 2, 2019

Happy New Year!  I just finished scanning all of my QSL cards, certificates, awards and other radio-related stuff.  They can be found here.

February 18, 2018

The 40 - 6 OCF is installed and seems to be working well.  I pulled out the old 2M FM rig and have it set up on the desk as well.

October 21, 2017

I've been playing with FT8 for a few days and have been having a lot of fun with it.  I want to add a 40-meter inverted V to go a little lower as the sunspots continue to decline.

May 28. 2017

We moved a few miles east to Ameila Island (NA-138) and I've installed an MFj-1786 mag loop for now.

May 27, 2015

I had thought that I would be on the air more after I retired.  But, then I found myself getting involved in other things such as playing the drums at church, getting back into guitar and, just a few months ago, I bought a bass!  But, I have been working some JT65 and JT9 and plan to make some contacts in the CQ WW WPX Contest this coming weekend.

July 25, 2013

Well, I just retired as of May 31 after 28 years at FedEx.  But, I still do a good deal of online work in higher education.  Despite that, I should have more time to be on the air now since I won't be traveling!  I made my first few contacts using JT9 today and it has been fun!

November 18,2012

Wow!  I can't believe it's been so long since I've made an entry here.  Work has kept me busy and on-the-road a great deal. Today, I've been making a few contacts in the November SS and plan to get on the air more in the future.

October 30, 2011

Had some fun in the CQ Worldwide DX Contest this weekend.  Ended up with 150 contacts for 55,806 points.  Most contacts were made on 10 meters!

May 30, 2011

Band conditions were awful for the CQ World-Wide WPX Contest (CW) this weekend.  I ended up with only 115 contacts (99 prefixes) for a total of 23,958 points.  This was my worst score in the past three years!

March 6. 2011

Spent half of the weekend at Disney World.  But, spent some time today on the ARRL DX SSB contest and made 80 contacts with 64 multiplers for a point total of 15,168.  The contact spread among 10, 15 and 20 was almost equal!

January 30, 2011

The VHF contest last weekend was a bust for me.  I worked one station on 6 meters and he was a few miles away!  But, this weekend I made some contacts in the CQ WW 160 Meter Contest (CW).  I added some extra wire to the vertical and the tuner managed to find a match all across the band.  I imagine that only a few watts were actually being radiated though.  I did manage 52 contacts in 20 states and one Canadian province for a total of 2,247 points.

January 22, 2011

I have been off the air for awhile due to vacation and what I thought was a radio problem.  After much frustration, I found out that part of the SO-239 in my lightening arrester was bent slightly causing an intermittent connection issue.  It took me a long time to track that down and, after tearing a number of things apart, all is well now!  The ARRL January VHF Sweepstakes takes place this weekend so I’ll see if I can make a few contacts in that.

November 28, 2010

CQ WW DX (CW) Results: 133 QSO's in 43 zones for a total of 45,824 points.  I had to cut it short due to some radio issues.  (I may be off the air for a few weeks.)  This was the first time ever that I made contacts on all contest bands: 160 through 10 - first ever 160 contact!

November 21, 2010

Results from ARRL November Sweepstakes (SSB): 140 QSO's, 59 sections, 16,520 points.

November 14.2010

I started to use two new modes today.  WSPR using WSPR 2.0 and JT65 using JT65-HF.  Both are very unique and fun!

November 7, 2010

Results from ARRL November Sweepstakes (CW): 118 QSO's, 54 sections, 12,744 points.

November 5, 2010

I added an EQ Plus by W2IHY yesterday.  I've always felt that I needed a little extra "talk power" and don't plan to add an amplifier or a big antenna right now.  I worked special event station HF2010CY in Poland and Z36T in Macedonia on 40 (SSB) tonight. There was quite a pile up calling the Macedonian station but I got through on the second call!

October 31, 2010

Made some contacts in the CQ WW DX (SSB) Contest.  For a change, I made more contacts on 15 than 20!  That's a good sign.  10 was open for awhile as well.

July 11, 2010

Band conditions were not too good this weekend but managed to make about 100 contacts in the IARU HF Championship - most on CW.

July 8, 2010

I've been traveling a great deal lately and have not been able to get on the air.  But, I have a few days now and hope to make a few contacts.  The IARU HF Championship is this weekend so I'll make sure (I hope) to get on for that.

June 13, 2010

Played a bit in the ARRL June VHF QSO Party.  When I was first licensed, these VHF contests were all that I could participate in on 2 meter AM.  I didn't hear anyone on 2 Meter CW or SSB this weekend but I did make 35 6 Meter contacts.

May 31, 2010

Had 173 contacts for 37,496 points in the CQ World-Wide WPX Contest (CW) this weekend.  It's nowhere near what the "big boys" do but I beat my score from last year which included 129 contacts for 26,936 points.   Made two contacts in Cyprus and one in New Zealand on 40 meters.

May 23. 2010

Made my first PSK63 contacts during the European PSK DX Contest!

May 15, 2010

Made a few Hell contacts today during the Feld Hell Sprint - what a unique mode!  You can find out more at the Feld Hell Club site.

May 3, 2010

Didn't do much operating this weekend - just one PSK31 contact on 10 meters on Sunday.

I recently discovered a site called GlobalQSL. They print and send your QSL's!  All that you have to do is upload a file and everything else is done for you.  It seems pretty good to me: http://www.globalqsl.com/

May 1, 2010

Had a tooth pulled yesterday.  Ouch!  Maybe do some digital work today.  There's a 10 - 10 digital contest going on.  Maybe 10 meters will be open?

 April 29, 2010

Just started this website today.  Let's see if anyone finds it!
